Gear Up For Reds Baseball

Reds Lose Opener, Look to Square Series Wednesday

Reds dropped their second straight Opener on Monday, falling to the Mets 2-1.  The bullpens for both teams shined…it was lights out once the Mets’ JJ Putz and Francisco Rodriguez slammed the 8th and 9th inning doors, respectively.  Reds fans have to be happy about Arthur Rhodes, David (Stormy) Weathers and Francisco Cordero throwing three innings of shutout ball…especially with the spring Cordero just endured.  Danny Herrera will be fine, he was clearly amped up for Opening Day and I expect a much better performance next time out.

It’s Volquez vs. Pelphrey tomorrow night from GABP…Over/under on the attendance? I’ll say under 14,000 in the park, 16,500 paid attendance.  Prove me wrong Cincinnati (but you won’t).

No word yet on Gomes accepting or rejecting his AAA assignment or if Taveras will be back in center tomorrow.
