Explain to me again why it took until the 41st game for Jonny Gomes to play in the big leagues this season?

In his first at-bat as a Red, Gomes roped a pinch-hit double to kick-start a two-run 8th inning.  After Ramon Hernandez lined out to the shortstop, Adam Rosales (Gump) laced a double to left-field, plating Chris Dickerson (who pinch-ran for Gomes) with the go-ahead run.  After a pitching change, Alex Gonzalez singled to left field, scoring Rosales and the all-important insurance run.

Homer Bailey goes back to where he started two years ago, when he made his major league debut against the Indians.  Bailey still has not won since 2007, after going 0-6 with a 7.96 ERA in 2008.

In my opinion, this is Bailey’s last stand in Cincinnati.  Injuries and Micah Owings inconsistencies will give him plenty of chances this season to make an impact.  If Bailey continues to struggle, I think both parties need a change of scenery after the 2009 season.
