Ugly with UG
Lance Berkman leaves town with zero wins and one ugly face.
Bronson Arroyo had one of those nights tonight when he was nearly unhittable and Jay Bruce powered the Reds to a 6-1 win over Houston with two homers and a triple.
Jerry Hairston homered and continues his solid May with a .291 average and 10 RBI’s. Bruce is now on track to hit 51 HR’s and knock in 105 RBI’s.
Bronson Arroyo had a 7.15 ERA on May 6th after giving up nine runs in a little over an inning’s work. Since then, Arroyo is 3-1 and has dropped his ERA two full runs. While the trade calls for Arroyo come and go every year, the guy is going to give you 200 IP a year and he has benefited from better defense and a more consistent offense this season. He is GUARANTEED to have nights like May 6th once or twice a year…but he is also good for five or six nights like tonight as well.
The Reds have an off-day Thursday before heading on the road for a big road trip to Milwaukee and St. Louis. Hopefully Reds fans will fill the park when the Reds return to play the Cubs next weekend…the Houston series failed to lure 20,000 to any of the three games at GABP.
