Reds Fall to Bucs, Cueto to Start Rubber Game Sunday

Reds vs. Cubs

The Reds couldn’t rally from a 5-0 hole on Saturday night, as a ninth inning comeback fell just short in an 8-6 loss.  Jay Bruce hit a rocket with two on and none out in the ninth, but the ball tailed right into Pirates LF Nyjer Morgan’s glove.  Micah Owings delivered a performance that we will likely see out of at least 50% of his starts this year.:  5+ innings, 5 runs.  Everyone struggles to have a solid fifth starter, and if Owings can go 10-12 this year with an ERA in the 4.50 range, we should be doing cartwheels (considering the top 4 pitchers in the Reds staff).

Johnny Cueto was brilliant on Monday night, and hopefully the Reds can put together some offense behind him tomorrow at PNC Park.  Jeff Karstens, who got roughed up by the Brewers earlier this week, starts for the Pirates.
