- Tough loss to the Nats, especially after another admirable outing from Micah Owings (5.1 IP, 1 run).

- Owings and Johnny Cueto are the only two Reds starters not give up more than five runs in any start this season.  At least Owings is giving the Reds a good chance to win…and that’s from a 5th starter.

- Jermaine Dye is reportedly available again if the White Sox continue their slide.  Remember the Reds almost pulled a trade for the veteran in the offseason for Homer Bailey.  I think this is a win it all this year move, not a move for the future.  As rough as the offense has looked, I don’t think you trade prospects for someone like Dye this season.

- $11 sun/moon deck tickets for Father’s Day against the White Sox are still available from the Reds (via 1530 Homer’s Group Outing).  Tickets are normally $22, and if you are one of the first 10,000 dads (usually a male 16 and over), you get a free tie.  Email the Reds here for tickets.

If you can't look good wearing this tie...just stay home.

- Although the Reds should have swept the Nats, they head to KC to play another last place team with a chance to gain ground on Milwaukee and St. Louis.  The Royals are nine under .500 and are just 2-8 in their last 10.  They also avoid the 8-2 Zach Greinke.

- Drew Stubbs OBP has dropped from a .417 clip in May to just .281 in June (19 BB in May compared to just 1 in June).  Stubbs needs one more season in Louisville before heading to the big club.

- While the Reds are dead last in the MLB for hitting in June (.205), their team ERA is 5th at 2.69.

Two straight solid outings for Owings, very good sign, hopefully the run support will pick up a bit vs. KC this weekend
