Don’t look now, but the Reds have one four straight, eight of ten, and are scaring the crap out of the Astros for fourth place in the NL Central. The four-game sweep of the Pirates was capped off with a 5-3 win, allowing Homer Bailey to pick up his fifth win of the season.
Winning games at this time of the year (especially against the Pirates) means next to nothing. It’s just like golf. There’s a difference between golf, and tournament golf.
Trust me, there is a difference between sweeping the Pirates when you are 20 games back and sweeping the Pirates when you are fighting for a wild-card spot. But, you have to recognize the fact that this team hasn’t completely given up, and wants to finish as strong as possible before the 2010 season.
